Gosselins Go Skiing
The Gosselin family heads to Park City, Utah for its first ski vacation that includes ski school for the children, snowboarding for Jon, and spa treatments for Kate.

Spa treatments for Kate? This should be good.

We get a shot of the family's Utah home. It's amazing. The house is huge and gorgeous. Makes me want to get on a plane and head to Utah!

On the first day there, all the kids were going to head ski school and Jon was going to go snowboarding. But there's a snag in the plans - Kate is super sick. She has the worst headache she's ever had in her entire life and was throwing up the entire night. She doesn't want to miss the kids getting ready, so she plopped herself on the couch and watched everyone get ready. Jon figured it would be hard to get everyone ready by himself, but how is this any different that usual? Kate never gets those kids dressed.

Despite Kate's sickness, she was still looking forward to going to the spa. So she schlupped around the house looking pathetic and left everything to Jon and Beth. Thank goodness for Beth! The kids looked adorable getting ready for their day outside.

When Jon and Kayla, Beth's daughter, arrived at the ski resort, introduced the kids to their ski instructors, and got them all set with skis. The kids were hilarious trying to walk in their ski boots. After all the ski stuff was set, the kids packed into a gondola and headed to ski school. Once they arrived at the ski place, there were multiple meltdowns. Mady was in a foul mood. Joel just kept crying and a few of the other kids were definitely on the verge of just being done.

The instructors were brilliant and started the day off with hot chocolate. That was just what the kids needed and everyone was ready to go. The kids seemed to be happy starting off and there were a few tears throughout the day. Kayla stayed to help with the kids and comfort them in case something happened because Jon headed off to snowboard. This seems strange to me. I don't understand why he would dump the kids off on total strangers and leave Kayla to pay attention to his 8 kids. Furthermore, I think Kate probably should have gone too, but she was too busy at the spa. I don't get this couple. I really don't. I can't remember any single time my parents dropped me or my brother off on strangers. Heck, my parents even chaperoned the school dances. (Yes, that was mortifying on my social life.) I'm glad they are so trusting because I don't know if I'd leave my kids with a total stranger.

Some of the kids picked up seeing faster than others. And some still hated it. Cara seemed to *love* skiing. She was doing awesome and couldn't get enough. Everyone took a break for lunch and Jon surprised them with happy meals. After lunch, Jon hung out with the kids and seemed to enjoy seeing all the kids ski. At least he interacted with them a little.

While everyone was outside skiing, Kate headed to the spa with Beth. And it's amazing how quickly Kate bounced back too. Especially because all of the work was done. She enjoyed her mani-pedi and sipped tea all morning and afternoon.

On day 2, Collin, Joel, Cara, and Leah hit the slopes for the morning. Then, in the afternoon, Jon would head back to the mountain to ski with Cara. Before Jon left, Leah got really upset and started asking for Hannah. She was so cute asking for her sister. All was well when Jon offered her a piece of ABC gum. lol.

Kate stayed back at the house with Beth. They hung out with Mady, Hannah, Alexis, and Aaden. Everyone seemed relaxed and were just hanging out. It was so low key. Aaden was super cute when he announced that he wasn't going back to ski school because he didn't like falling in the snow. Aww. Mady hates the outside because it's so cold.

We got to see a bit of footage of Jon snowboarding by himself. He looked like he was having such a great time. And even when he was with Cara, he seemed calmer and happier. Probably because Kate wasn't henpecking him to death.

Cara quickly graduated from the first level of ski school and headed to the mountains. She did an awesome job and seemed so happy to be doing a great job. Jon joined her on the mountain and seemed excited that Cara was doing so well.

Later that evening, Jon and Kate headed out on a date, while Kayla and Beth hung out with the kids. It looked like a nice restaurant and they seemed happy to reconnect. But it seemed weird that they made Beth stay at home with the kids. They should have let Kayla and Beth get away from the madness! There was the usual madness between the kids. It was nice to see Beth control it and not let the kids get away with some of the usual junk. And do it in a nice way without freaking out and screaming at them.

On their 3rd day, Kate finally went to go see Cara ski. It was early in the morning and Kate ventured up the mountain to see Cara ski. And Jon got to go ski down the mountain before anyone else had been through. It looked beautiful. And if I skied, I'd totally go there. While watching for Cara, Kate is flabbergasted by seeing people ski, as if it was all an illusion. Too funny. But when Kate did see Cara come by her, she seemed so happy for her. It must be awesome to see your kid excel at something.

In order to do something as a family, everyone headed to the ice rink for some ice skating. Everyone got skates and Kate headed out on the ice first with Jon. She had the look of fear on her face and decided that she wasn't going to be skating. More than likely a good idea. Some of the ice skating instructors headed onto the ice and were nice enough to help the kids learn how to skate. Once they got the hang of it, all the kids seemed to be having a fun time. Even Mady enjoyed it. It was nice to see Mady having a fun time, until she fell. Poor kid.

On the last night in Utah, the family went to dinner at a restaurant and the only way you could get there was by horse drawn carriage. The sleigh ride seemed fun, but super cold. Brrr! Dinner looked yummy and seemed like it was homestyle and you serve yourself.

Kayla and Beth headed home a day early and Aunt Jodi came out to help everyone fly home. Cara and Jon seemed sad to be coming home, but everyone else was looking forward to coming home. Unfortunately Mady claimed that she didn't have any fun. I don't know why she feels that way, but I think it's more than likely attributed to the cameras and the lack of attention from her parents.

Jon and Kate ended the show seeming grateful to have this opportunity. It was nice to see them being thankful to be able to take the trip and be all together. Aww.
