Surprises await each family member on Valentine's Day.
~*~
It's the night before Valentine's Day and Jon and Kate are getting ready. She got each of the kids a little pouch for their chairs with their names on them. And she's putting little candies or toys or little things in each one.
Kate declares that she loves the day and Jon hates it. He thinks it a greeting card holiday, hates to feel emotions, and therefore hates the day. Kate declares that he is not romantic but she just accepts it.
When the kids come down in the morning, they immediately notice the pouches on their chairs. They seem super excited at the fact that there's something fun waiting for them. In addition to the pouches, each of the family members got a shirt. Kate's said I <3 Jon and Jon's said I <3 Kate. Unfortunately, Jon's didn't fit him and he didn't seem very nice about the fact that it was so small. The kids shirts were cute - the girls had little hearts on them and the boys had football shirts that said heartbreakers. Adorable!
All the food for the day was shaped into hearts...heart pancakes, heart sandwiches, etc. I miss those days. The only way I get heart stuff now is if I do it for myself! hehe
Each of the kids practices saying Happy Valentine's Day. Collin was so cute trying to say it. Aww...I could just eat him up.
As a fun treat, Kate made the kids some edible play-doh. So each of them got a large chunk of the play-doh and some cookie cutters. Aaden totally chowed down on it too. It looked easy to make and since it's edible, all the more fun.
During play-doh time, Jon snuck out to go get Kate's present. He also admits that he does like Valentine's Day and pretends that he hates it. His trip was successful and he headed home.
Hannah and Leah seemed excited to help Kate wrap Jon's present, a coffee card. Kate warns the girls not to tell him before he opens it and Hannah tells us that they never spilled the beans about Jon's watch for Christmas. They seem happy to spend time with mom and help her decorate Jon's present.
While the kids headed for a nap, Jon and Kate got a treasure hunt ready for the kids. They got all the clues together and hid them in the appropriate places. When the kids got up from nap and Mady and Cara returned from school, the hunt started. Mady and Cara seemed really excited and lead their brothers and sisters around the house to find the next clue. When they finally found the big treasure, the kids kind of lost it. They absolutely *loved* it. Inside of the large treasure box was a ton of littel stuff for them to play with. So fun.
With the kids occupied with their new toys, Jon broke out his Valentine's Day present. He gave Kate a pretty bunch of roses, a purse, and a jewelry case. She seemed excited that he showered her with presents. And Jon seemed to like his coffee card.
SassySarah Review: The kids had a great day. Which is really what counts. One thumb up.
