Red, White & Gosselin
The family celebrates the Fourth of July.
~*~
It's the 4th of July and the family's got huge plans for the day. Everyone's heading to Wyomissing, which is Jon's hometown. He's excited to see everyone that he grew up with and see the parade. And this year is a big test, instead of the strollers, the family's bringing rings for the kids to hold on to.
It was going to be a long day ahead of them, so it meant packing breakfast and lunch for everyone to eat. Jon was anxious to leave, but Kate was busy trying to get everyone's hair done and shoes on. Before they could leave, Jon had to get everyone jackets because it was a tiny bit cold out. Kate didn't seem happy that he had chosen jackets because *everyone* had to have red, white, and blue jackets. Wow - she is really all about matchy matchy, huh.
It's quite a change for this year's celebration because it's freezing cold out. Usually it's sweltering hot outside, but it's chilly this year. Now that everyone's outside with their jacket on, it's time to walk to the parade. Each kids grabs a ring and the family starts walking. Not everyone's super happy about the color of their ring, but everyone walked nicely and there weren't any major problems.
The parade looks awesome and the kids seemed to have a fun time. They waved and seemed happy with their balloons. Of course, the usual freak outs occurred during the candy throwing. But the larger meltdown happened when Kate refused to let the kids eat the candy. She figured that she couldn't control it and figure out who was eating what, so she wouldn't let them have any. Which isn't so nice. Of course, each of the kids did manage to sneak some.
Now that the parade is over, the kids were ready for lunch. Everyone sat nicely on the blanket and got something yummy for lunch. The kids got sandwiches, grapes, cherries, and crackers. They seemed happy to sit down and get some lunch.
After the day's festivities were over, the family headed to Beth and Bob's for a dinner picnic. Unfortunately it started to rain a little bit, so the little kids didn't go swimming. But Cara and Mady didn't seem to care and swam around anyway. The rest of the kids didn't seem to care that much and just hung out and did their own thing.
Jon seemed stoked to get to ride on Bryce's 4 wheeler (Beth and Bob's son). The kids really want to go for a ride, but thank goodness he didn't let them because it wasn't safe. Jon seemed to enjoy himself and then convinced Kate to go for a quick ride. Although, who was watching the kids while they were out gallivanting?
The day ended with a yummy dinner of hot dogs, hamburgers, and salads for the 4th. Yum.
SassySarah's Review: The family seemed to have an okay day. A few meltdowns, but nothing too crazy. No thumbs up or down.
