Even though there are a ton of episodes out there, Jon and Kate are going to re-tell their story. They met on a sunny day in 1997. Kate had just graduated from nursing school and Jon was working at a hotel. There were company picnics at the hotel he worked at and Kate attended a party with a friend. Kate spotted Jon from across the way and he caught her attention. She was determined to meet him before she left.
Both Jon and Kate admitted that they had dated lots of people before each other. And Jon says that he was doing nothing with himself before he met Kate. He didn't want to get married or have kids or have any goals in life. Jon was dating someone when the couple met but they quickly broke up and he started dating Kate.
Footage is seen of the couple dating and spending Christmas together. They look so happy and in love. They are also super lovey and nice to each other. It's crazy to see. Although I could do without Kate's screeching!
They got married at a friend's house and paid for it themselves. It was super private and had only family and close friends. They loved it and wouldn't change anything. Okay, they really claim to love their wedding and how it turned out. Which is funny...because they start complaining and when they get *married* in Hawaii, all they do is complain about how awful this wedding was. Strange.
The couple went to Disney World on their honeymoon. It was Kate's first time on an airplane and again, they seemed super happy. They appear to have videoed their every move, too. It's kind of funny to look back on them. How happy they were then and how miserable they seem now.
Kate was diagnosed with PCOS and decided to have babies right away. They tried to adopt from Korea, but even my home country turned them down. So they turned to fertility treatments. And Kate got pregnant right away. And then we see Kate's pregnancy tests. Oh, crazy lady. They admitted that they rushed into it.
Mady and Cara were born right after their first wedding anniversary. The girls were so cute as babies and kind of look the same. You can definitely tell who is who. Too funny. Kate says that she looks back on that time very fondly. Which is mean to the other kids. She doesn't look back on that time fondly? Well, we know she doesn't.
When the girls turned 3, Kate and Jon decided to start back on fertility treatments. The first one didn't work, so they chilled and went to Disney with Mady and Cara as a last hurrah. Which is weird. Don't the kids enrich their lives? And when they came back, she tried again and boy did her fertility work.
Kate realized she was pregnant right away and knew something was going on. And when she went for her ultrasound, they told her there were 6 babies. Since we're familiar with them, we know their reaction. Kate says that the goal of infertility treatments is to produce 1 baby. And that they are considered a fertility nightmare.
Ugh - they show picrures of Kate's expanding belly. I'm scared to ever have to grow and birth 1 child, and seeing someone's belly with 6 kids. Oh. my. goodness. I may never have a child.
The day the kids were born was quite the day. We get to see footage of the kids as they were in their isolettes. It's hard to believe that they were that tiny and fragile. Babies are just too cute!
Since there were so many kids, a bunch of people came over to feed all the babies. Nana Janet, Nanny Joan, and Beth are among some of the helpers.
The question of grandparents come up. Kate kind of avoids this question. According to Kate's book, she had a falling out with her family and that's why they don't talk. Jon's dad passed away a few years ago and his mom's just involved with her own life. It is very sad that the kids don't have grandparents in their lives. I love my grandparents. They spoil me to death!
Jon admits that the way he and Kate talk to each other isn't always super kind. But realizes that it would be weird if they were all lovey. Kate thinks they talk to each other in brutal honesty because they feel super comfortable with each other. I'm glad they are so honest with each other but they could do it in a nicer way.
There was a lot more blathering. It was about how they started their show and how long they've been doing it. We got to see a lot of home movies of the kids as babies, their first birthday party, hanging out at home, etc. Kate says that kids are getting older, so we see some more update footage.
SassySarah's Space: This was really all around boring. We didn't learn anything or see anything that excited. No thumbs up or down.
