a mean trick

Paul owns 2 cars that have loud exhausts. Most of the time I can hear him coming from a half mile away.

Hearing the sound of his car makes me smile.

I realized awhile ago that the metro bus sounds an awful lot like Paul's cars.

And about 5 minutes ago, I heard a metro bus and my heart leapt in my chest and I forgot for a second that he lives on the other side of the country and there's no way that he would be able to surprise me this late at night.

So now I'm sad.

What a mean trick that metro bus played on me.
