On this episode of Jon & Kate get greedy....

Steve Thomas was coming over to help the family become environmentally friendly. Kate tells us that all she really cared about was the fact that this was cost effective to her. And she really didn't care about leaving less of a carbon footprint. This attitude just set the tone for the rest of the show.

The construction workers, including Jon, started putting the solar panels on the roof. The kids were playing around outside watching all the projects and seemed excited to see their Dad on the roof. Unfortunately, the solar panels didn't arrive in time and this setback would probably cost them a few days. Which would make Kate upset because she only agreed to construction for a few days. So Jon conceded that they just don't tell Kate what's going on.

Kate did manage to come outside and see what was going on, but realized that she wasn't really happy about it at all. So she retreated inside to bake. Now in the history of this show, we have never seen Kate bake. Plus, she shoved the kids outside in the cold so they wouldn't bother her either.

Jon and Steve went inside to feed the kids a snack because Kate went to the store. Stee was a really good sport about showing the kids how solar panels work. He really went above and beyond teaching the kids. They had a great time learning. Steve asks where his snack is and Hannah told him that because he didn't take a nap, he doesn't get a snack. That's kind of harsh.

On the first day of construction, Kate took everyone pumpkin bread. Some must have rubbed off on her skin because she had turned orange. Steve traded some nasty remarks with Steve and I felt bad for this guy who was really trying to help them.

The solar panels finally arrived and the team got right to work. The kids were running around the house and seemed to have fun just playing outside. Leah was adorable just singing her church song and then was chastised by Mady. (BTW - Mady looks so grown up with braces.) Collin was showing the camera what happens when he takes a finger out of his gloves...so funny.

Kate and Steve are chatting and she tells Steve that she'd rather have a root canal than deal with projects at her house. She claimed that when she was growing up, her dad started tons of projects and then never finished them. I didn't know that gave you a license to be a bitch.

Despite Kate's obvious hate of Steve, Jon and Steve really seemed to get along. They were hard at work and even wnet on a 4 wheel drive around the house. While Jon announces that he thinks this is a good idea, Kate claims the earth is only going to last so long and is really only in it for the cost savings. And while she does this, she pulls on her earring as though it's a lifeline. WTF, lady. They are doing this for you for FREE (which you love), it's good for the environment, and for your pocketbook. Can't you just say thank you?

Steve was insistent that Kate go up on the lift to see all the work they're doing. Kate doesn't seem excited and claims that they look like "roof jewelry." Ugh. He gets frustrated and tries to explain stuff to her. She then decided that it would be more fun to mock him than appreciate what he's doing for her. Nice.

Construction took place during Valentine's Day, so we see Kate serving the kids heart shaped stuff. And they were supposed to talk about how they love each other but really, her actions during this episdoe wasn't so loving. One thing - the kids are almost 5 years old and they are still wearing bibs and sitting in high-chairs?

Steve finally convinced Kate to get into a harness and go on the lift. She gets into the lift, after being harnessed. She claims that it was stupid, just very stupid. And ordered Steve that when she says stop, she means business. She glances at the panels and then demands to go down. And on the way down, she treats Steve like crap. Steve then takes a few minutes to go through everything with Kate and she tells him that they're going to edit what he said out.

When installing the new heating system to help heat the house, Jon seemed interested in what was going on and how everything worked. Kate, however, stayed inside and complained about how much was getting ripped out. When she did make an appearance, Steve yelled "yikes" and walked away. At least he learned his lesson. In order to seem motherly while outside, Kate tried to get Shoka to play with her but he didn't really care about her. Clearly when you play with him once a month, he's not going to respond.

I kind of zoned out during the middle of this because I was bored by the fact that Kate was just being a huge pain in the ass. Doesn't she realize how terrible she looks? Or perhaps she doesn't care.

Another day, more of Kate's baking. Steve claims he enjoys the cookies and Kate's hardness is broken during her baking. Somehow I don't think she really baked them and just had craft services do it.

Steve Thomas was nice enough to help Mady and Cara build a picnic table out of reclaimed wood. It looked awesome and seemed like a good project for the girls. They did a good job and seemed to enjoy using the power tools.

Okay, I stopped watching because I just couldn't handle it anymore. Kate was being given this great opportunity and pissed it away. And treated someone else like complete garbage. I wonder how season 5 is going to go because I don't think I can keep watching if she's going to continue on this rampage.
