Jon & Kate Plus 8 - Legos & Safaris

While en route to Hawaii, the Gosselins stop in San Diego to visit the Legoland theme park and go on a safari at a zoo.

The family was ultimately headed to Hawaii, but made a detour to San Diego for a couple of days. It looks like it's early in the morning when they arrive at the airport for their big departure. I'm sure it's not super fun to go through security with 8 kids - that means 16 shoes are coming off, all the stuff getting put on the conveyor belt, 8 kids walking through the metal detector. And thankfully everyone made it threw without incident.

Kate was the first person to melt down at the airport. She wanted Jon to figure out where they were supposed to be headed but Jon was dealing with some kids. So after her incessant whining, Jon finally agreed to lead them to the gate. It appears as though everyone got some food quickly and then boarded the plane. As per the previous episode, Kate admits that she doesn't want to sit with Alexis who doesn't like to sit down but would rather roam around the plane. Poor Alexis is going to grow up and feel awful that her own mother doesn't want to sit with her.

The flight seemed to go smoothly. There were bathroom breaks and no major meltdowns so that was quite the relief. Kate starts to lead everyone off the plane and Collin freaked out when Jenny tried to get him to leave and ran towards the end of the plane. The poor kid smacked his head really hard on something. It sounded terrible and he was crying, the poor thing. Kate did pick him up and then later commented that because he wasn't obeying Jenny, that perhaps it was karma from God. Um, okay. Perhaps he tripped because there were cameras chasing after him?

The Gosselins were staying at this huge resort in San Diego and on their first day decided to head to the pool. Poor Jenny didn't even get her own room and had to share with Cara and Mady. Which wasn't so bad, but still, they can't even give Jenny a room by herself?

The pool looked like it was going to be fun. All the kids got their swimmies on and ran into the pool. Everyone seemed content to play around the pool and show off their new swimming skills.

Later in the day, the kids headed to a mini pond to feed some fish. Unfortunately Mady had another bout of "ugliness" and Kate told her she had to stay at the hotel with Jenny. I feel bad for her. She really just wants to stop having cameras in her face. The rest of the kids headed to the pond and got to feed them food. It seemed really cute and the kids had a blast luring the fish in with thier food. Kate got upset when the kids did get some fish food on their shirts. Apparently Joel is going to stink for the rest of the day because she can't change him. It's totally because then everyone wouldn't match. What a load of crap.

Next, Jon decided to rent a paddle boat, but because the boat only fits 4 people, he took Cara, Collin, and Hannah. Everyone got set with lifejackets and they headed out onto the water. Everyone else headed to the little beach and dug around in the sand. Somethign fun happened when the kids realized that Jon paddled over. The other kids got to get in for a ride. Finally Kate got into the paddleboat with Jon and she yelled at the kids goodbye. Poor Leah got upset when she saw her parents boat away. Real mature. How sad.

The next day, everyone headed to Legoland. Strollers were rented and everyone headed into the park. All of the kids seemed excited to get on the ride and laughed through the ride. Adorable. Next the kids got to go in this huge jungle gym thing that was full of ropes. Jon kind of got upset because there were so many people there and he was terrified he'd lose the kids.

The kids got in these huge lego boats and Mady and Alexis got kind of stuck. Jon had to grab on to Mady's boat and steered her back into the dock. Mady got so upset and I completely emphathize. That stuff happened to me all the time. Thank goodness I'm a better driver of my car.

After the boat ride, everyone got to look at all the huge lego constructions there. It looked pretty cool to see all the famous buildings made out of Legos. That must have taken someone forever!

The kids then got a private tour of the aquarium and seemed excited to look at the fish and got super excited at the sharks. The tank that had clownfish in it was super popular. All the kids were estactic to see the Nemos. I don't blame them...I get a kick out of seeing them too.

Next, the family got to tour a zoo of some sort and see all these awesome animals. The kids got super excited to see elephants, giraffes, leopards, and rhinocerouses. It was cute to see the kids get so excited. I do love seeing animals at the zoo and I can't wait to have a little kid to take with me. :)

The show ended with the family heading out to Hawaii.

SassySarah's Review: I got kind of bored toward the end of this episode. I guess I don't really care how much fun they had doing yet another backstage tour. Oh well. No thumbs up or down.
