Shopping for 10
Kate shops for her large family on a tight budget; Jon and Kate navigate a crowded toy store with eight unhappy kids.

Kate tells us that she wants to feed the kids healthy and organic food. She doesn't want to settle for just any food, so she spends more money on healthy food. And today, during nap time, she's going to shop. That will give her about 2 hours, so she'll have to run.

After lunch, Kate gets all the kids ready for their nap, got Cara and Mady on the bus for school, and welcomed the Miss Beverly in to watch the kids. Before she left, Kate got all of her coupons ready and headed to the store.

Once in the store, Kate grabbed (and wiped down) a cart and got to shopping. She looks at what's on sale, calculates everything, and makes sure she uses her coupons and rainchecks. She definitely saves a ton of money doing this and I have to commend her. I just run through the store and buy whatever I can find that I want.

Kate got out of the store spending only about $260 and used a ton of coupons to save about $100. Which is awesome. Good for her.

The remaining part of the show is getting ready for Christmas. Each of the kids put their names into a basket and got to pick another name to buy a present for this year. The kids seemed excited to buy presents and everyone got ready for a day at Toys R Us.

Once inside Toys R Us, Kate split the family up and the parents let the kids pick out some toys for each other. Each of the kids seemed excited to buy presents for each other. Leah wanted a tutu for Christmas and Hannah seemed happy to pick one out for her sister. Kate realizes that it's not about what they get each other, it's that they are showing love for each other.

Jon and Kate tried to get Cara and Mady to purchase their gifts for each other, but then it was spoiled by them telling each other. And that's what the shopping trip started to go downhill.

Kate told Jon to wait while she was checking out and then yelled for him. So Jon came over to be with the kids. Then Kate realized that she wanted Jon to come to her and she screamed "HELLO" across the store and everyone in the store looked at Jon. He ended up coming to where she was and then he just completely checked out.

At that point, Jon told her he was mad and embarrassed because she treats him like crap. Kate, being herself, had no idea what she was doing. And then she admitted that she doesn't see anyone else when she's out. She just focuses on herself. Which is clearly a great excuse.

The last part of shopping was Jon and Kate taking Cara and Mady to a toy store so the girls could shop for each other. Jon and Cara split from Kate and Mady to find some toys. The trick is that once one of the girls picks something, Kate and Jon meet up secretly and convince the girls to get the same thing. Although they realize that this might be coming to a close. Both girls pick a doll that you can draw on with markers and seem happy with their purchases.

Finally we get to see some footage from Christmas and the kids seem thrilled with all of their toys. I think they finally started to *get* it and they all seemed happy opening presents. I love Christmas and I think it's way more fun with little kids!

SassySarah's Review: It was an okay episode, except for Kate's screeching in Toys R Us. No thumbs up or down.
